Why she is due for a swim course refresher

That weekend we were at the beach, we spent a ton of time in the pool. I know I have mentioned that Giovanna talks MORE THAN YOUR AVERAGE BEAR, but maybe what I haven't mentioned is that a lot of that talking is repeating things that are important to her. Like "Mommy, you aren't going fast in the car because there is somebody in front of you? Is that right? So you aren't going fast because there is somebody in front of you? That's why? Is that why you aren't going fast? Because there is somebody in front of you?" and I swear to you on my life, she can repeat these series of sentences until I am going FAST enough in the car for her. Sometimes I'll finally say "Mommy can't talk right now" and that turns into "Mommy? You can't talk right now? Because you're driving and you want to go faster? And there is somebody in front of you and you can't go faster? Is that right? And so you can't talk? Mommy, you can't talk?". You can see the effort to silence her is mostly fruitless. At what age can I start the "Quiet game"? You know, the one where you say "Hey! If you don't talk for ONE WEEK, you get a lollipop!". Is 3 years old too young to start that game? Is that right? So I can't start it right now because she is too young? And she isn't old enough? Is that right?

Anyway, it was her first time in the pool in almost a year and while she remembers how to swim, she had no interest in floating. And while she loved for me to hold her and let her swim to the steps, under no circumstances was I to wait for her to swim to ME from the steps. So she would repeat (maybe 475966853 times that weekend), "Mommy, I want to hold your hands so I can swim, I DON'T want to get your hands so I can swim". Which translates to "Woman, you will retrieve me from the steps". So EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. she'd get to the steps, she would repeat this phrase over and over and over. I guess in case I forgot? Or for clarification purposes? Or because the record in her brain was stuck on "skip" that day? She said it so very often, that I recorded her. I had to prompt her to tell me, but you'll get the basic idea. If there is any balance in the universe, this next child will enjoy reflecting quietly on life. If for no other reason, than that he cannot get a word in edgewise.
